Jaron Boots Ennis is a solid fighter no doubt but this is a bit much from him ahead of his latest fight in boxing in our view.
That is some of his bold claims he is making ahead of Saturday night that he is already a top pound for pound rated boxer.
Not only that, he is actually gone further now. More than bod claims no less.
Ahead of Saturday night he said he actually thinks he is the best boxer in the world pound for pound.
As in, the number one pound for pound boxer — in any weight class on Earth.
No your not.
Far from it.
He made the comment ahead of the fight with Xander Zyas this weekend in the US.
He is a capable fighter is Ennis but there are maybe too many wholes in his defense at this point. He gets tagged too much.
But more importantly, he just has not fought the caliber of opposition to be talked about like that yet.
The likes of Naoya Inoue, Shakur Stevenson, David Benavidez and others have all done that.
They have all been fighting and beating the best lately and are much ahead of him.
In fact, Boots Ennis is not even in our top ten pound for pound in boxing at the moment.
He might in fact be number 11 for us in the pound for pound.
As it is that competitive internationally now.
A very challenging list to compile.
He has had 36 professional fights so far and has remained unbeaten and has a good knockout ratio with 31 wins inside the distance, sure.
But boxer Jaron Ennis has not been that active as a fighter which pound for pound also warrants.
When you are properly looking at the pound for pound boxing rankings in all verticals.
He has only fought a total of seven times since 2022 coming into this weekend’s bout with Xander Zayas.
That is not enough for the pound for pound ratings talk from him.
Maybe he can change that this weekend.
