Floyd Schofield Says Gervonta Davis is at the very end of his career now in boxing and why we believe him to be right.
Gervonta Davis last fought against Lamont Roach in a controversial draw in early 2025 but he should have lost according to most.
He’s been gone from boxing more or less since and has had all sorts of problems away from boxing.
Some things to look out for those new to the sport at the moment:
- Floyd Schofield is a #1 lightweight contender and mandatory challenger to Gervonta Davis
- One body ordered Davis vs. Schofield mandatory bout on May 23, 2026, with 30-day negotiation period ending June 22
- Davis last fought March 1, 2025 (majority draw vs. Lamont Roach) — has been largely inactive since
- Schofield and his father claim Davis has “one foot in and one foot out” of boxing with reduced dedication
- Schofield Sr. previously stated Davis would rather retire than fight his son
- Davis holds champion-in-recess status with one body but they sanctioning bodies are less important now, amid legal troubles and ring absence
- Schofield has threatened legal action and predicted he would knock Davis out
- Davis 30-0-1 with 28 KOs; faced pressure to defend title every 9 months per some organizations now longer important terms
At the end of the day Gervonta Davis doesn’t seem that serious about boxing if he is partying a lot as well.
He said recently he’s getting back into the boxing ring but nothing has come of it since.
Gervonta Davis vs Schofield would be a solid fight but the real fight is Tank vs Shakur Stevenson.
