Why Canelo is right about Jake Paul bringing up his name for clout

Losers with nothing going on after look to clamor off winners, Canelo is this case with one Jake Paul.

Jake Paul has done well as a promoter to his credit, he has gotten some events again on different networks in boxing.

But not big fights mind you.

His time in boxing as a pro boxer is more or less done now, we think, and he had the nerve to say he could get $200 million for Canelo to fight him in a real pro boxing match recently.

Some things to bare in mind for those new to boxing on the genesis of this:

  • Jake Paul called out Canelo Alvarez after beating Nate Diaz
  • Paul posted to X on May 4 2024 saying he wants Canelo after Mike Tyson at the time
  • Canelo responded on May 7 2024 at the Munguia presser saying he only fights  real fighters and went in the Terence Crawford direction
  • Paul got knocked out by Anthony Joshua before last Christmas

Jake Paul has also said he’s looking at retiring from professional boxing lately — so this hardly fits with a man looking to pursue a fight with Canelo.

Alvarez also is due to return to boxing this September and is on the comeback trail after a loss to Terence Crawford last year.

Canelo takes on Christian Mbilli next up and Jake Paul looks a million miles away from him.
