Amari Jones returns to action Friday night in boxing in a world title eliminator at middleweight.
But he’s already got his eyes on big prizes already and bigger things after his fight with a former German world champion Friday night in the US.
Speaking a short time ago at the final presser Jones said:
“There’s no other way to do it than to prove myself. Everybody here already loves me, but I need to prove myself and solidify my place in the division. I need to prove that I deserve a world title shot and, eventually, win all the belts and really show my skills.”
“No, I don’t feed into any of that. I’m focused on the task at hand. As for all the extra tickets and everything else, I’m not the ticket man. Y’all can go get them on Ticketmaster.”
“Man, it’s a blessing. I’ve been putting in all this work and performing—two back-to-back knockouts, with my last one on a big card. I feel like I deserve nothing but this level of support.”
Jones will need to keep his eyes on the current prize however this week first.
Gualtieri is a tough test for him and has trained well and is up for this fight.
Here’s a look at Amari Jones and Gualtieri’s records as amateurs and pros ahead of the fight.
