Rico Verhoeven can’t win title against Usyk this weekend, that’s a given, but he can do a lot though and for his sport.
His courage as a kickboxer to get in there at the highest level of professional boxing is evident.
He is a big name worldwide with his 13 million Instagram followers and he can win many more this weekend in the big fight with Usyk.
Some bits of information for those that don’t know Rico and other things of interest some don’t know about him or Usyk on their movie careers as well:
- Verhoeven has not fought in a boxing rankings bout.
- Verhoeven would enter WBA rankings with a win over a champion per WBA guidelines.
- Usyk’s titles would remain with him if Verhoeven is ineligible.
- Verhoeven headlined 17 GLORY events.
- Verhoeven appeared in the film Kickboxer: Retaliation.
- Usyk appeared in the Ukrainian film The Fight Rules.
This is a marketing opportunity for both of them to elevate their brands but more than anything it is a big showcase for boxing to gain new combat sports audience in a new market in Egypt.
And some surrounding countries in the Middle East and parts of Africa who will tune in as well.
That’s the big win here — and the undercard is excellent as well on a boxing note.
