Fabio Wardley has activated the Daniel Dubois rematch clause a short time ago and has decided to get back up. Now they’re in trouble.
Daniel Dubois and his team that is.
He and Wardley had a fight of the year candidate this month in a real slugfest at heavyweight.
Dubois stopping Wardley for the first time but was dropped in the bout himself in a classic fight.
The rematch clause has been activated today by Wardley, here is some of what he must learn from in the first fight in part two:
- Start sharper: He dropped Dubois twice but was also down in 10 seconds and round 3.
- Protect the face: He bled badly and his right eye nearly shut by round 11.
- Control the range: Dubois landed 40 power punches. Wardley must avoid trading up close.
- Build 12-round stamina: Both men need time to recover. Wardley can’t fade late.
- Finish when hurt: Dubois came back after two knockdowns. Wardley must close the show.
- Clinch when wobbled: He was wobbling but kept fighting. Smart clinches buy time.
- Respect Dubois’ heart.
- Win middle rounds: Dubois took over rounds 4-8 before the stoppage. Bank those rounds.
- Box smarter, not wilder: Set traps with jabs and feints instead of just brawling.
- Heal first: take time off before rushing the rematch.
Starting fast will be key this time if in fact they do get around to the rematch immediately.
The first fight regardless will go down as one of the most entertaining heavyweight fights of 2026 and in recent years.
Max Kellerman had a shocking take on the Dubois vs Wardley fight — most thought it was a great scrap.
