Daniel Dubois rises again to at least for now become a heavyweight champion again. A comeback complete for him.
He was coming back of course from a big stoppage defeat himself to one Oleksandr Usyk last year.
He was knocked out in the 5th round by Usyk on July 19th in 2025.
He completed the comeback by knockout win himself over Dubois and even came back in the fight itself as well:
- Dubois was dropped by a right hook less than 10 seconds into round 1
- Wardley knocked Dubois down again in round 3 with an overhand right
- Dubois beat the count both times and recovered
- He steadied himself and found his jab after the knockdowns
- Dubois began breaking Wardley down with straight punches and right hands
- Took control of the fight from round 4 onward
- Had Wardley wobbled, stunned and bruised from round 4 until the finish
- Trapped Wardley on the ropes with sustained pressure late
- Stopped Wardley at 0:28 of round 11
- Dubois called the early knockdowns “flash knockdowns” and said he had to get back to boxing
A very impressive showing from Dubois for now.
Who knows what fights he’ll be in this year but this weekend in boxing belonged to Daniel Dubois.
