Mayweather vs Zambidis Stinks Of Desperation From Mayweather

Mayweather vs Zambidis

Floyd Mayweather was one of the greatest boxers of the 21st century but Mayweather vs Zambidis doesn’t seem right at all.

Usually his exhibitions there is some sort of story line to them and distinct interest point.

Like when he went to Japan against Tenshin he got the Japanese public interested, same with the Logan Paul exhibition he got people in America interested.

The Gotti III exhibition was a bit strange but it got a little interest.

Now he’s fighting a tiny kickboxer who’s only 5’5 tall in Greece. We don’t really understand the angle or selling point in this one.

It comes across as very desperate from Mayweather — here’s why:

  • IRS tax issue: Reports say he owes more than $7.25 million and was warned his passport could be revoked, risking travel to Greece
  • Multiple exhibitions stacked: Zambidis in June, Tyson in April, Pacquiao in September — all exhibitions, with Tyson/Pacquiao already in doubt
  • Admits it’s not a real fight: Mayweather said “this is not actually a fight; it’s an exhibition… we’re both winners”
  • Pacquiao dispute: Pacquiao’s team says they signed for a real fight, not an exhibition, and Mayweather took an advance
  • Opponent status: Zambidis is 45, a kickboxer retired since 2015

Zamidis as well being 45 years old is old unlike the other exhibition opponents Mayweather used to fight.

Where there was some at least tiny bit of perception that there was some tiny bit of danger for Mayweather at least.

Zamidis is old, small, a kickboxer and the fight is happening as a boxing exhibition.

Mayweather might as well being going in and doing an exhibition with anyone at this point.

Mayweather is 49 now and surely is looking at this as a type of sparring match before, well if, he takes the May Pac 2 rematch in September.
