Gervonta Tank Davis hiding from top contenders in boxing but there is nowhere for him to run anymore in 2026.
A lot of outside the ring issues are now out of the way for Davis to soon return to boxing.
He has indicated that is in fact is what he will be doing.
The Lamont Roach rematch he appears to be avoiding.
Same with the big Shakur Stevenson fight.
Here’s why we believe he’s been ducking the tough fights mainly recently in recent times:
- Tank beat Ryan Garcia in 2023 but has faced very few elite fighters since.
- His only fights were against Frank Martin in 2024 and a draw with Lamont Roach in 2025.
- He has avoided Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez, and Vasiliy Lomachenko for years.
- After drawing with Roach, he skipped the rematch and chose Isaac Cruz again.
- As of 2026, he stays inactive and picks safer opponents instead of top contenders.
The Ryan Garcia knockout win for Davis is well over three years ago now.
That was his pinnacle in boxing and since that it has not been as good from him.
To put this right he needs to get back into the ring as soon as possible either against Shakur Stevenson or the Lamont Roach rematch.
The Shakur Stevenson fight is the biggest fight for Gervonta Tank Davis though, very close to Haney vs Garcia 2 in terms of being one of the biggest fights in all of America and world boxing.
