Canelo reveals why he left arena before Benavidez vs Zurdo before the main event even started in some controversial moments.
He had been watching the co-main event featuring his team mate for Mexico Jaime Munguia moments before who won by UD.
He then left the arena and didn’t stay to watch rival Benavidez fight — whom won by round six KO against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez to win the cruiserweight title and become a three-weight world champion.
Afterwards on leaving before the Benavidez fight Alvarez simply said:
“I just came to see Jaime Munguia. That’s it.”
That will have not gone down well with Mexican or American or worldwide boxing fans.
The fight remains a big one but it would take Benavidez having to go back down to super-middleweight to make.
Who knows what fights will happen either in the future but a good card tonight in boxing.
Benavidez called out Canelo a short time ago here after the fight to a long awaited showdown.
