It is Mexico vs Mexico in Mexican Monster Benavidez vs Zurdo Ramirez in the big one in Cinco De Mayo 2026 this year in boxing.
Sure, Benavidez is Mexican-American and Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez is first generation Mexican but they are both Mexican really.
Well, not in the eyes of all Mexicans of course. But both claim the Mexican heritage and that is all that matters as far as Benavidez goes.
So Mexico vs Mexico and with their styles being usually very good styles for engaging bouts, should in theory make for some compelling action. This doesn’t always manifest but more often than not it does.
Into entertaining barn storming Mexican boxing action for fans who will be expecting at points in the fight to all action to break out in the bout.
That is what Mexicans are known for in boxing and that is why professional boxing always suits Mexicans better than amateur boxing.
They have the toughness it takes when they are tested to weather any storm and come through and push through in fights at the highest level in boxing. They have good heart some of them.

When fight time comes and it is now, Mexicans have always shown how capable they are and always will be.
That goes back to the Aztecs and fighters much more ferocious and more dangerous than Ramirez and Benavidez combined that are not in history books or on YouTube.
