Benavidez three division champion aspirations will be tested vs Zurdo

Benavidez three division champion

The David Benavidez three division champion goal is going to be under heavy fire shortly to put it mildly.

He knows it too.

If he doesn’t he is arrogant or crazy. He will see soon though.

When he steps in there with Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez he bids to become a three-weight world champion in boxing which is no easy feat in itself.

Previously he has been a champion at both 168 pounds and 175 pounds, the super-middleweight and cruiserweight divisions respectively to those fans new to the sport.

But people forget Benavidez some years ago was a very heavy kid in his younger days and actually lost a shed load of weight when he became a professional boxer.

He also has sparred with cruiserweights before and is used to being hit by them. Cruiserweight is just below heavyweight though and if he were to get caught cold with something it absolutely could shock him to his core.

We don’t think he will though and he should come in there ready to go to work from round one.

‘Zurdo’ Ramirez as the champion at cruiserweight for some is actually maybe a slight underdog in this one and that’s alright. It won’t bother him in the slightest.

Most professional boxers or any professional sportsmen for that matter pay little attention to predictions and underdog statuses before going into events.

Particularly sports like boxing that is a sports where big hitters can often change the outcome in a sporting event in a nano second.

Just one punch is at all it takes and Benavidez knows if he is foul wanting at the highest level of pro boxing against Ramirez he will be taken apart and dismantled.

But by all accounts he knows what is on the line for him now and has taken the fight seriously and has prepared accordingly.

This is where it will stop surely though for Benavidez in terms of the moving up in weight as moving to heavyweight would be far too much a stretch for him as he wouldn’t be big enough for that weight.

Usyk was a cruiserweight when he moved up, Benavidez doesn’t have the frame at all to compete with those giants — even with the division being in a weak era of heavyweight boxing compared to the likes of Lennox Lewis, Muhammad Ali, Rocky Marciano, George Foreman, Joe Louis and others.

We think David Benavidez three division champion goals are realistic enough for him this Saturday but he can’t afford to have a bad night against ‘Zurdo’.

Benavidez moves up cruiserweight move is something he must take serious.
