Ryan Garcia vs Haney 2 is being talked about again.
After Garcia had a decent win over Mario Barrios on points last weekend the fight is back in the spot light.
Haney himself went straight on the attack on Garcia after the Barrios fight accusing him off being ‘off the good juice.’
There is no friendship between the two and Garcia and Haney now being world champions at welterweight makes the fight a naturally big one as well.
Fans though still want the fight and after the first fight controversy, you get the sense that the rematch looks to be inevitable.
Both are big names in America and both are now in some good form in the sport.
Haney had a strong win over Brian Norman Jr in his last fight as well.
Teofimo Lopez is also up at welterweight next up after his loss to Shakur Stevenson at 140 pounds recently so that is a possible contender for an opponent for both as well.
Welterweight is crowded again now with American boxers and big names but for pure interest in big fights at the limit — Garcia vs Haney 2 does the job on that front better than any.
The first fight ended in Garcia winning initially after dropping Haney only for it to later be declared a no contest due to adverse trace amount drug test findings in the Garcia post fight test.
That is unresolved and the fight must happen for it to have a resolution.
For both.
So much happening in boxing at the moment with the Muhammad Ali Revival Act and everything — the fight would be a nice addition.
