The Rapid Downfall Of Oscar De La Hoya In 2026

Dana White called him a sinking ship at the moment.

He is.

Others are moving in now.

White, a UFC promoter and a boxing promoter now, was speaking on De La Hoya following Zuffa Boxing 03 last weekend.

Oscar De La Hoya was an accomplished boxer in professional boxing. A multi-weight world champion. You have to give him that at least.

As a promoter he started well too but in recent years and particular in recent months and weeks, his rapid decline continues.

The fight that fans want to see obviously is Vergil Ortiz vs Jaron Ennis, something he has not been able to get done with all sorts of things going on outside of boxing surrounding it.

Others apparently are looking to put the fight on now.

De La Hoya looks to be the common problem in many fights falling through at the moment and his prized boxer, Ryan Garcia, his main star, is due to leave him this weekend coming.

Garcia himself not in great form in the ring either of course as he comes into the Mario Barrios fight this weekend in the big fight this weekend.

He mentioned that the Barrios fight this weekend will in fact be his last fight with Oscar De La Hoya as his promoter.

Many fighters have left De La Hoya in recent years and as boxing resurges in popularity all the time in America and internationally around the world, he is one of the few, like Bob Arum and Al Haymon, that appear to be in decline recently.

Times are changing for boxing for the good of the sport and things can move on without De La Hoya as a prominent promoter in the sport and others as all the new companies and new governments continue to come to professional boxing.

Hopefully the Jaron Ennis vs Vergil Ortiz fight can be made shortly at some point.

There are meetings taking place now to salvage the fight.
