If Usyk wants the big fights now it is an easy fix.
The WBO belt was tossed by Usyk recently due to not been giving enough interesting big fights by them. He opted not to fight mandatory contender Fabio Wardley and you can’t blame Usyk.
He’s the King of boxing since Crawford retired not only as the best, undefeated still, heavyweight champion but pound for pound number one now for most as well.
He wants and needs only the big fights in the US as he has done it all in the East. Boxing will expand further in the East this year but in Usyk’s he wants and needs more US stuff as he is learning English better than ever at the moment.
He wants his profile there to be big for UFC and other stuff as well to do with them after boxing. So, all he needs to do is this.
He can use his own promotional company or just use Zuffa Boxing to get him a three fight deal, or a two fight deal even, Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz are two huge heavyweight names in America that they can easily get him fights with.
They are both former heavyweight champions as well.
That is what he wants and needs and can be made happen just by vacating the WBC belt if they threaten to strip him of it, like they did with Shakur Stevenson and Terence Crawford recently.
He doesn’t need it and neither does boxing. Just get rid of the thing and go for the big fights in the US.
Sure, the US is not as important for boxing anymore with all the new stuff in the East, but it still has some importance, but for Usyk though it actually is important.
He wants to do stuff after boxing over there, so the UFC and their affiliates in the WWE and so on can link him in with all that as well.
Everyone knows Usyk is the best heavyweight so he can just fight for the Ring Magazine and Zuffa Boxing belt instead?
Boxing fans just want to see what’s best for him and him in the best fights, those two are decent fights and big names as well.
If Wilder beats Chisora soon he can fight Wilder in the summer and Ruiz Jr in November easily enough. Or something like that.
He will also get a chance to get some prospects from his new promotional company some experience in the West as well that surely Zuffa Boxing will only be too happy to put on the card.
If gives them more new connections in the prospects and promotion worlds in the East in boxing and basically fans get to see more of the best fighters and young prospects in the East and West fight at prospect level as well.
It looks to be a great move for all concerned.
Boxing will win as a sport again of course too.
Up to him though.
Usyk is the one that shatters illusions and has the power in boxing. No one else.
All roads lead to Usyk whether you like it or don’t.
Simple as that.
