Mario Barrios On Fighting For Mexican Roots Vs Ryan Garcia

There will be much Mexican boxing fans interested in this fight.

Both have some fan bases in Mexico, one of the countries’ the biggest in the world for professional boxing.

After the US, it produced the most world champions in pro boxing history.

Barrios defends his WBC welterweight title on Feb 21 this month against Ryan Garcia and is well aware of the power of Mexico in boxing.

Speaking to DAZN earlier, WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios said:

“Very proud of. I’m very proud to to bring awareness to El Azteca, the word El Azteca more than anything. You know to that.”

He added:

“You know inspire other Mexicans with indigenous backgrounds look into their you know causes and that reconnection.”

No doubt Barrios will be paying attention to everything Garcia has done in his last few fights.

The mind games are underway this month but Barrios comes across well in that regard.

He is a big underdog though even though he’s the world champion.

He can’t be written off though and will want to box better than he did against Manny Pacquiao last year.
