The former WBC heavyweight champion looks all business currently.
It is well known that Deontay Wilder is the biggest hitting and punching man that ever walked the face of this Earth in the history of all civilization.
That includes the first time human beings were on this Earth and understood how to hit and punch one another.
Sports science in these times is advanced and the fact Wilder is considered the biggest puncher in heavyweight boxing history, that backs up the above point.
But he isn’t just a puncher.
People forget he’s shown a great jab at times in his career as well. Not just the Bermane Stiverne fight.
His comeback fight in a low key bout in 2025 showed a good use of the jab again. But he’s back in proper fights now shortly.
The Usyk fight didn’t happen for now but he’s got a big one in the mean time with an even quicker return date.
Derek Chisora in the UK in April. Chisora will step in there with a man who means all business.
It is the mental side of Wilder that appears to be most impressive. He’s still the same Deontay Wilder though. As honest (too honest for his own good sometimes) as they come. He has the heart of a lion and sometimes this comes through too much in interviews when maybe he should bite his tongue a little more. Maybe many are the same on that. But that’s Deontay Wilder though.
A warrior through and through but much smarter now than ever. More well rounded as a fighter mentally after changes of trainers as well.
Wilder knows how boxing, professional sport and life works and must associate himself with winners and continues to do so.
Defeated losers and negative energy people will likely try to flock to Wilder again soon after he viciously knocks out Derek Chisora next up.
Wilder is too long in the tooth for that though. He will give them no time this time.
Anything can happen in heavyweight boxing of course.
But the way Wilder comes across is different this year in 2026. It is both Wilder and Chisora’s 50th pro fight in boxing as well.
Chisora says it will be his last one and he will be well paid fighting a big American name like Wilder for it.
Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder will look to flatten him and make it a knockout defeat final fight for Chisora.
