He is moving up to 140 pounds now which should help after the missed weight in how he lost his world title calamity last year.
People might not know about Ortiz though.

- Born April 28, 1996 (age 29), from Worcester, Massachusetts; of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent.
- Works as a union carpenter (journey-level) outside boxing — learned the trade young and calls himself “technical” in everything, from carpentry to fighting.
- Grew up tough: Lost his father at 15 while his mother was incarcerated; started boxing at the local Boys & Girls Club.
- Amateur record was strong (around 100-14); pro record 20-2-1 (10 KOs) — went the distance with elites Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez, earning respect for durability.
- Upset specialist: Shocked former champ Jamel Herring in 2022; recently won regional titles at 140 and sees himself “guarding the door” at junior welterweight for newcomers like Davis.
- Dismisses Davis’ KO talk as “dreaming” and points out he’s faced better big-stage fighters than Davis has so far.
