There have of course been professional boxing cards in China but nothing ever major, in terms of a really big event with the West and the East involved.
As professional boxing continues to expand in the East this year, with casinos in Vegas in Nevada in the USA down for the first time in the history of Vegas in recent times (that may change soon though), there is opportunity for China and a huge event in professional boxing.
Many of the casino whales that have left Vegas in recent years quite possibly have gone to some of the new casinos in China in Macau and other places.
Any of these big casinos in China could look to do a big professional boxing event similar to how Vegas and the MGM and places like that in Vegas did in years gone by, why not?
If the big gamblers are going to China now more and more, why not bring some big professional boxing events to China too — both will work together and both have gone hand and hand as industries in Vegas and the big fights in boxing over the years.
Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang is one of the country’s bigger names in boxing and the Chinese can use him in a fight with a big Western star there later in the year.
A Zhilei Zhang return in 2026 has been mentioned recently but nothing confirmed on it yet — he could easily box twice this year if he wanted.
There is plenty of time for someone to line up a proper major world title fight and event of note for one of the major casinos or stadiums in China using Chinese and Western streaming companies with Western stars and Eastern stars in boxing but some local Chinese prospects and of course Zhilei Zhang will be needed to sell some tickets in China too.
Chinese boxing will be made great again.
