Callum Walsh of Ireland has been handed a huge opportunity in so many ways next week on January 23rd on what is a big night for the entire sport of boxing worldwide.
Although it won’t be in a big stadium, Zuffa Boxing (owned by the UFC) will do their first professional boxing event on the major streaming network Paramount in the US as part of the start of their multi-billion dollar streaming deal.
It is understood the UFC will use that for both professional boxing and the UFC fights they show.
The mechanics and exact nature of how it all works is not clear yet but should be more clear on January 23rd at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where the event takes place.
Callum Walsh of Ireland headlines and he’s building up a good fan base in the US and around the world all the time, improving and knocking out opponents again and again. The concern is that his trainer Freddie Roach is very advanced in years now at this point.
But Walsh has the likes of the UFC and Dana White promoting him, and the excellent Tom Loeffler managing him, formerly with UFC Fight Pass showing his fight but now with Paramount.

Even if Freddie Roach is not able to keep up with Walsh in training there will be no shortage of trainers, quality real ones in the US, or anywhere in the world, who will want to work with the outstanding Walsh.
Walsh would be able to take his pick from most of the best trainers in the world, he is a legit top flight prospect and he is being stepped up a bit again on January 23rd, which is good.
Dangerous fights are what prospects need at this point everywhere in the sport, internationally.
Walsh to some may have a lot of pressure on his shoulders on January 23rd next week, when you think about it, he is the first boxer to headline for the UFC in their new boxing deal with Paramount in a game changer for the sport.
TKO are another entity in boxing that UFC President Dana White is part of whom put on their first fight live on Netflix for Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez only last September and it went off well, to say the least.
The Muhammad Ali Act is being amended and the likes of boxing legends like Mike Tyson have gone on record as fully supporting that lately, in terms of it being simply being updated to benefit the sport and professional boxers.
So a lot is happening around Walsh at the moment but really his focus at the moment as always will be purely on training and fighting on fight night.
He can and quite possibly will take the boxing world by storm this year.
Starting off by fighting fire with fire on January 23rd but boxing intelligently as well, no need to get into brawls if he doesn’t need to, the knockouts will come if he keeps boxing as well as he has been lately.
Not every night can be a knockout and that is alright, stick to his boxing and keep improving as he has been, he has speed, good combinations, power, good punch selection, good range and is big for his weight, and is very young.
They are all positives though and improving ones, if he plays to his strengths it will make all the difference this month.
He’s coming off a win against Vargas Junior on Netflix last time he boxed so momentum is with him to keep impressing in the ring.
