Is Terence Crawford’s retirement permanent in boxing in 2026 and beyond? Let us take a look at the facts on that.
Yes, we think so. Here’s why.
‘Bud’ Crawford’s last fight before retiring was in September 2025 against Canelo Alvarez in a super fight in Vegas put on by TKO that ended in victory for him on points.
Maybe the best fight of his career putting on a boxing clinic against Mexican all time great Alvarez — all the way up at super middleweight.
It is hard to see him beating that accomplishment and he stayed undefeated as well, like Mayweather, that is a rare and great thing to retire on that very few do.
Crawford comes across as a man of conviction and doesn’t mince his words when he sets his mind on something, a pure competitor in boxing and in life, he strikes us as.
Is Terence Crawford’s retirement permanent
So for that reason, no we don’t think he will be back.
He doesn’t need the money either and can do many things after boxing, a genius in boxing, a smart man in life and pure competitor, always working and always hustling every day, no matter where he is in the world.
Crawford has been a winner all his life and this won’t change after boxing of course.
The only thing is if someone came along with a crazy amount of money to do one of these hybrid boxing matches or exhibitions that offered him minimal risk and huge rewards, might tempt him but that wouldn’t be a pro boxing match anyway.
Say for instance if Jake Paul offered him 80 to 100 million dollars to do an exhibition or a hybrid fight, he surely wouldn’t turn that down.
But in general, we see him staying retired.
He battered rival Errol Spence years ago and has done it all now — nothing to prove — he can call the shots from here on in.
