How Often Do P4P Rankings Update In 2026

How often do P4P rankings update in 2026 in boxing? That is maybe the most difficult question to answer this year but let us take a clear look at that.

The sport is clearly in a great place but will be in even far better place as the year goes on. The pound for pound boxing rankings will change very frequently this year.

Maybe more than ever and more quickly than ever.

The sport is on fire with excellent fights and champions from all over the world now and as the East opens more as a market for boxing this will only bring more pound for pound contenders into the top 10 rankings.

Usually the rankings were updating every month or so when the super fights or world title fights were happening that involved what leading boxing outlets and what fans think are some of the best pound for pound boxers.

But that possibly will be halved this year and beyond.

Purely because there is more large platforms showing boxing now around the world, there are more professional boxing cards happening and the standard in professional boxing is also going through the roof at the moment.

How often do P4P rankings update in 2026?

The quality of fights at the moment in terms of underdogs upsetting the apple cart is maybe unparalleled going back to the 80s in boxing at the moment — that is driven from fights being put together where the outcome is not really known.

Moreover, it is also due to again the sheer standard of boxing at an all-time high in pro boxing not seen since the 80s which brings about the possibilities every week of upsets.

Look at all the upsets already in 2026 and the likes of Dalton Smith taking the US by storm only last week to become world champion, as well as big upsets in Germany at heavyweight and other weight classes in terms of knockouts not seen coming already in 2026.

Boxing is doing this every week now so for that reason expect the pound for pound list to change maybe twice a month this year at points.

Will Stevenson become P4P king by end of 2026?

Will Shakur Stevenson become P4P king by the end of 2026 in the entire sport of boxing? Maybe but somethings would need to happen.

On the balance of things as things stand for now, although he is an outstanding world champion already and pound for pound elite fighter in the sport, we think he won’t be pound for pound number one by the end of the year but never say never.

He comes into 2026 on fire and in the best run or form of his life at the moment coming off the back off a boxing clinic against one of Mexico’s most dangerous fighters in 2025 where he bamboozled the Mexican and left him bewildered from not knowing what hit him.

As well as exhibiting elite level defense at the same time, improved shot selection, improved aggression when he needed to move from defensive to offensive boxing, seamlessly so, effortlessly so at times.

He takes on Teofimo Lopez on January 31st this month in a huge fight for the sport in New York first up.

If he were to batter, outbox and dismantle Lopez which he could very well do, if he boxes near his best, that is a big statement first up.

If he comes through that injury free there is the possibility then due to how early the fight in the year was that he can box three times this year.

This should be Stevenson’s goal as a young world champion as well.

Now, at that point, it is about the fights.

Say if he were to then fight someone like Lamont Roach or Ryan Garcia or Mario Barrios in the summer, beat that opponent, again, boxing to his best, battering them again, that is another huge statement.

In theory, he could then fight Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis for the third fight by the end of the year in a super fight in boxing in November or December, and beat Davis, at that point, yes, for us, he has a chance to become pound for pound King of all of boxing at the end of 2026.
