What a year it has been for the sport, another good one in all aspects with big gains and increases in many aspects this year again for the sport.
The brand of professional boxing has increased again and now the sport is set soon to truly come back to a golden age time with the masses watching and tuning into boxing around the world across all digital platforms.
We had Terence Crawford picked this year as fighter of the year and most would probably agree with that.
Trainer of the year is more difficult and there are many. Some unsung hero’s in this regard like Ireland’s former WBO middleweight world champion Andy Lee, who has made the move to trainer incredibly well.

An outstanding trainer.
But for us naturally it had to be Terence Crawford’s trainer Bomac who scoops the award.
Although he didn’t get the win with another fighter of his Chris Eubank Jr in the Conor Benn rematch (Benn winning on points) what he did with ‘Bud’ Crawford in the super fight in Las Vegas was outstanding in September.
He guided and trained the best fighter of his particular era post Floyd Mayweather to move up from 154 pounds, where he had looked not impressive before, to all the way then to 168 pounds (super-middleweight) to not only look impressive against all expectations, but excel beyond that.
He put on a boxing clinic against a future all time boxing great in Canelo Alvarez and put on one of his best fights of his career.
Then retiring undefeated and undisputed.
Inspiring the world in the process.
And becoming a true American hero and all time sporting great, not just all time boxing great.
Bomac, well done and congrats on the award this year.
As long as he works well with a fighter and has the close rapport with them, he can train more world champions and elite pound for pound professional boxers at the highest level of the entire sport again in the future.
