Recently talks of an Anthony Joshua vs Andre Ward fight came out of nowhere, very suddenly, despite Ward being retired for some time now.
Ward retired undefeated from boxing as a super-middleweight and light-heavyweight champ.
He stayed retired too.
But then the Joshua fight came up rencently.
It doesn’t really look like it is something he is motivated for unless there is a lot of cash in it.
Andre Ward Clears Up Motivation For An Anthony Joshua Fight
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on his call in show Andre Ward said:
“No it’s been eight years, and it comes (motivation to fight again) in waves. Most days. I’m content where I am. I love commentating and doing business. The same competitiveness I had in the fight game, I bring to life.”
He spoke about bringing precision to everything he does now in business and away from being an active fighter.
Whereas Joshua by all accounts is coming back to being an active fighter again.
Joshua being a former heavyweight champion of the world.
The two appear to be in very different places.
Never say never but there has to be a want by both fighters to make the fight happen for it to happen.
