Devin Haney’s father Bill Haney has gone on the offensive against boxing and professional sport promoters the Hearns of Matchroom.
It has been some years now since Matchroom got into the business of boxing promotion and professional sport promotion.
It all started with Barry Hearn and a snooker player called Steve Davis. Today Eddie Hearn is the head of Matchroom Boxing but Matchroom is considered one of the biggest sports promotional companies in all sport, worldwide.
Devin Haney Father Attacks Matchroom’s Eddie And Barry Hearn
Bill Haney doesn’t care for their accomplishments however and said on the X platform:
“In 38 years since starting in snooker, Eddie & Barry Hearn never made a Devin Haney, undisputed, 3rd division, 3rd continent by 26. The Haneys kicked their a** in the legacy department.”
You’d sense Hearns and Matchroom will have a retort to that at some point.
Big claims from Haney senior and he has obviously done a great job with his son’s career.
It is important to note Bill Haney is considered one of the best managers in boxing having previously won the Boxing Writers Association of America’s manager of the year award not long ago.
Devin Haney next up moves up in weight to challenge Brian Norman Jr for the WBO welterweight title.
The fight is on November 22nd in Saudi Arabia (Artur Beterbiev will also fight that night).
