Some are calling for Anthony Joshua to retire but he’s reportedly on the verge of signing a major three fight deal to return to boxing.
Joshua suffered a vicious knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in 2024 to lose his IBF heavyweight title.
He’s also suffered a heavy stoppage defeat before that to Andy Ruiz Jr years before.
But Joshua is a warrior and is under repair and by all accounts will announce a major comeback deal in the sport shortly.
That said, former world champion from the UK as he always does, was brutally honest on what he thinks Joshua should do.
Carl Froch Brutally Honest On Anthony Joshua
Speaking on his show ‘Froch on Fighting’ Froch passionately said:
“I personally feel that Anthony Joshua is finished. He’s done. He’s had a fantastic career in terms of the old buns. He was great for boxing back then, his legacy. He’ll be remembered for bringing boxing straight into the forefront and bringing boxing back to mainstream stadium fights. Obviously, he followed me fighting in the stadiums. I set it up, and then he took the lead with that, him and Eddie Hearn and Sky Sports and that five-year deal. He became a massive star, but he’s had his career, he’s made his money, and he’s got found out as soon as he stepped up in class. And before he even stepped up in class, he got flattened, didn’t he? Got flattened by Andy Ruiz, but then he stepped up against Usyk, got outclassed twice, badly beaten up and done, and then he’s been ironed out, finished, El Sparko against Dubois. So that, for me, is all she wrote. That should be the end of AJ’s career. Have no interest in it, don’t want to see him fight again.”
Joshua and his promoter and team will have a different view of course but that’s the great thing about boxing, fans, new and old ones alike always debate.
That’s the great thing about this nutty fight game.
It’s the wild wild west and always will be, professional boxing, but that’s part of the draw of it even in today’s happy days times where the sport is now back at its former place of glory.
And will be much more in the months ahead.
Big blue ship brands, corporations like Amazon Prime Video, DAZN, Netflix and many official state governments are all flooding into boxing now at the moment with investment.
Boxing will be awash with money in the time ahead between now and the years ahead as the sport grows.
If Joshua still enjoys training and fighting, you can’t blame him for coming back.
