Rapid change and expansion is in the air in professional boxing worldwide and only for the better, improving on what we already have as a sport.
Getting rid of and disposing of the garbage at the same time right now and rapidly growing what we have as an amazing sport, the best professional sport, there is, on Earth, whilst always being true to the sport’s great history and traditional values.
Saudi adviser and one of the creators of the new TKO Boxing league, Turki Alalshikh, said the following on the X app yesterday:
“From this point on, I don’t want to see any more Tom and Jerry-type boxing matches where one fighter is running around the ring and the other is chasing him. We can longer support these kind of fights with Riyadh Season and The Ring. We want to support fighters who leave it all in the ring and fight with heart and pride!”
Energizing words for fighters and everyone in boxing, as well as for fans surely.
Fans want to see the best fight the best on a regular basis more than that, too, when they do fight, they want to see them in compelling fights.
Genuine fifty-fifty match ups where all is left in the boxing ring.
Netflix are now in boxing properly as well, surely knockout bonuses or TKO stoppage bonuses would work well to further incentivize fighters on top of purses and pay per view splits and so on.
It will work for everyone and fighters will earn more too.
The sport will grow more as well so more eyeballs on boxing which will grow everything.
