Another 40 Something Filipino Boxing Legend Makes A Comeback This Weekend Not Called Pacquiao

The Philippines has contributed a lot to professional boxing over the years in terms of number of professional boxing world champions, no doubt about it.

One of its favorite fighting sons returns this weekend in his 40s ahead of next month Filipino eight-weight division champion Manny Pacquiao fighting for the WBC welterweight world title at 46 against Mario Barrios.

That’s Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire, who, at 42, takes on Andres Campos of Chile this weekend.

The fight takes place in Argentina for the WBA interim bantamweight world title and not many really know about it.

Donaire is a four-weight world champion in the sport, a former fighter of the year and as we said recently, beat the great Cuban Guillermo ‘El Chacal’ Rigondeaux at a time where no one wanted a piece of ‘Rigo’.

Donaire has fought four times since 2021, losing two and winning two, but losing his last two bouts.

Donaire has been a bit quiet recently on social media which is obviously a good thing with how serious he is taking this fight.

Could this month and next month be two big Filipino comeback surprises from two legends from the country in boxing?

Both are big underdogs but stranger things have happened.
