Boxing star Ryan Garcia suffered a shock defeat recently in boxing in New York when he dropped a UD points defeat to Rolly Romero.
Going into the fight he was dealing with a mother with cancer as well as ring rust after a year lay off, going straight back into world title level.
He also had hand trouble possibly before the fight but definitely during it, which only after the bout he revealed. He has hand surgery now and posted the following on Instagram:
Surely good news for the sport of boxing that at the end of the day, still one of its biggest stars, not just in America, is under repair and coming back again.
The shock defeat to Romero will only motivate Garcia further.
That Devin Haney rematch remains a big fight at some point but it will be interesting to see who he fights next, and when, Garcia.
Particularly with his division and surrounding weight classes so competitive.
It looks most likely Devin Haney will take on Teofimo Lopez next up but await official confirmation shortly.
