Amanda Serrano Reveals Puerto Rico World Champions Record That Not Many Know

Amanda Serrano fights Katie Taylor in a mega trilogy fight on July 11 at MSG live on Netflix but Puerto Rico and boxing go way back before her.

Obviously, the likes of Miguel Cotto in recent times and before that Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad come to mind.

But not many know for the tiny island and country of Puerto Rico the country as the most world champions in professional boxing history per capita (population) per Serrano on Instagram:

Puerto Rico which is part of the USA but is it’s own country of course, is a tiny country with only a population of 3.2 million people.

The above is for professional boxing world champions – the highest level of the sport – not amateur or Olympic boxing (which while still important) which is below, beneath and on a much lower level than professional boxing – obviously.

So, what Puerto Rico have been able to do is remarkable, in the big picture of countries with world champions in pro boxing records.

They’ve had at least 50 world champions in professional boxing history — let that sink in. Number 5 all-time of all countries with most champions in pro boxing.

Some might put the number higher above, but that is the most sensible number, the very least (which is still a lot for a small country).

For such a small country, that has never been done, nor ever will be done again, at least in this current version of Earth we live in.

No way.

That record for such a tiny country in pro boxing looks solid and safe.
