Canelo Alvarez defeated William Scull in Saudi Arabia in a super-middleweight unification but the response was mixed afterwards.
Alvarez did what he had to do but against a very defensive fighter who kept moving away for most of the fight, making it difficult for Alvarez to engage.
Women’s heavyweight champion Claressa Shields said on the X platform afterwards:
“lol kinda…… but a fight is a fight. When a brawl gonna break out? This dude think he Wilfred Benitez”
Yeah, people agreed in that Scull was moving way too much and not allowing for much fight action to happen.
The response to Canelo’s fight with Skull was varied.
Not the best fight but again Alvarez did what he had to do, knowing going in that Scull was going to be awkward.
Alvarez now takes on Terence Crawford next up in September.
