Canelo'S Sympathetic Reaction To Ryan Garcia'S Shock Rolly Romero Defeat

Canelo Alvarez had a good weekend on Cinco De Mayo 2025 weekend in boxing but his training stablemate Ryan Garcia did not, at all.

Fighting on different sides of the world, Garcia lost in NYC to Rolly Romero on UD while Alvarez beat William Scull on UD.

Canelo, speaking after his win over William Scull to a group of reporters in an open media scrum, said of Garcia’s shock defeat:
“I feel sorry for him, but this is boxing, and things happen.”

He added:
“Yeah, of course (I watched the bout). It was a good fight.”

Adding on Garcia:
“Hey, you know, whatever. He’s a good fighter. A one-year layoff is hard.”

All spot on points from Alvarez.

Ryan Garcia had come back from a one year suspension in boxing to fight Rolly Romero on Friday night.

The ring rust was a factor but won’t be as much next time, obviously.

Hats off to Romero on the win.
