Canelo Sounds Alarm On Scull’s Skills

Canelo Alvarez returns to action against an opponent not really known outside of boxing but this shows that he clearly is not underestimating him below.

Alvarez fights William Scull on Saturday on Cinco De Mayo weekend, a world champion from Cuba who will have a lot of size advantage at super-middleweight over Alvarez.

Alvarez, whom has struggled with Cubans previously, told Dazn ahead of the bout:

“There’s always a challenge. Just because someone isn’t well-known doesn’t mean they’re not a good fighter. I know the kind of fighter Scull is, what he’s coming to bring, and his mindset right now—he’s got everything to gain, which makes him even more dangerous. He’s a skilled fighter who uses his distance well, he’s fast, tall, not overly strong, but as I said, this isn’t new to me. I’ve faced every style, every height, every strength in boxing. I know it’ll be a tough fight, especially in the early rounds, but I’m someone who adapts to anything. At this stage in my career, I have to.”

Always impressive in the mentality department from Alvarez, heck of a fighter.

He’s in for a very, very tough fight on Saturday though and he knows it.

He will need to be at his best.

Should he win, it is thought the super fight with Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford will happen in September.
