Canelo Alvarez has fought former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and has given his reaction to him boxing Jake Paul next up.
Jake Paul continues to get all the top tier boxers in the world, even Artur Beterbiev from Russia now, talking about him and his fights in the sport.
Speaking at an open press scrum ahead of his big William Scull fight this weekend in Saudi Arabia, Alvarez said he thinks Chavez will beat Paul:
“Yeah, I hope so, and I’m definitely supporting Julio César Chávez Jr. I hope he wins. He’s prepared himself really well, taking the fight seriously, and I wish him the best. Chávez Jr. has the experience—he’s a former WBC middleweight champion, and he’s fought at the highest level, so he’s got the tools to beat a guy like Jake Paul if he brings his A-game.”
Alvarez would obviously back his fellow Mexican, a country with a great tradition in boxing.
It was back in 2017 now when Alvarez beat Chavez Jr by unanimous points decision.
Jake Paul will start as a big underdog shortly when he steps in the ring against Chavez Jr on June 28th in California.
