Things have been lively this week between Usyk and Dubois ahead of the big rematch and that continued a short time ago, and then some.
The official press conference to kick off July 19th’s big undisputed heavyweight championship fight at Wembley Stadium in the UK happened moments ago.
There’s was a lot of back and forth between the boxers, and also their respective teams.
Dubois’ trainer Don Chares said he lied and cheated in the first fight and questioned what God he worshipped.
Usyk replied:
“I believe in Jesus. You are right I deserve an Oscar. Listen, you must train your fighter to punch clean but I will win this fight with the right hand and the jab.”
He added:
“I don’t think about these people because it is just talking. Listen, boxing is my life.”
He went on to say:
“Listen, I respect you and the team, I respect all my opponents.”
A very polite way to respond to another team member of Dubois calling him a cheater basically, for the low blow in the first fight, that is.
Dubois then said himself, with some aggression but calmly:
“There’s a lot of s*** being talked right now and I can’t wait to put him to sleep on the night. I think I am on fire now. Am ready to go. It’s going to be a blood bath.”
He went on to say:
“He will be doing a funny dance in the ring when I hit him.”
When asked if he thinks he will knock out Usyk, Dubois simply said:
“Yeah.”
Usyk’s team, and manager Egis Klimas, then responded swiftly to the accusations of what Dubois’ team claimed was a purposeful dive from Usyk from what some thought was a low blow at the time.
You really got a sense of genuine animosity between both Dubois’ and Usyk’ teams of coaches and management today.
Dubois later added:
“We’re going to knock him out on the 19th.”
DAZN’s executives were also present, mentioning the undisputed heavyweight championship fight will be exclusive and only available to be watched on July 19th on the DAZN platform.
Good scrap in store.
Some genuine needle between the two teams too based on today.
