The Conor Benn failed drug test 2022 impact on Eubank fight coming into this weekend’s boxing is still very real and raw. Here’s why.
There’s something that needs to be said on this.
First off, Eubank Jr and Benn were meant to fight long before this Saturday.
Alas, fast forward to now — Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn prepare for their April 26th grudge match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The shadow of Benn’s 2022 failed drug test continues to stir controversy.
The original bout, scheduled for October 8th 2022 was meant to happen at The O2 Arena.
It was canceled just days before after Benn tested positive for clomifene at the time, a banned substance.
The British Boxing Board of Control prohibited Benn from fighting, leading to a two-year legal battle that saw his suspension.
That was lifted in November 2024 by the National Anti-Doping Panel — which ruled at the time it was “not comfortably satisfied” Benn had intentionally doped.
The incident remains a sore point, though.
With the WBC’s 2023 report suggesting “elevated consumption of eggs” as a possible explanation for Benn’s positive test.
A claim Eubank Jr. mocked by slapping Benn with an egg at a February 2025 press conference.
An act that cost Chris Eubank Jr. a £100,000 fine.
Benn has consistently denied intentional doping.
And both fighters are now under Voluntary Anti-Doping Association testing for the upcoming fight — dead bloody right too.

However, that said, the episode has fueled bad blood.
Understandbly to a degree.
With Eubank Jr. accusing Benn of cheating and Benn vowing to “render him unconscious” in response.
The failed test not only delayed the highly anticipated clash but also cost undercard fighters their paydays at the time.
A grievance Eubank Jr. recently addressed by compensating 10 affected boxers.
Fans remain divided, with some on social media expressing scepticism about Benn’s innocence.
While others see the fight as a chance for redemption.
As the rivalry intensifies — Benn’s 2022 controversy continues to add a layer of drama to this already heated family feud — to say the least.
To put it mildly, these two guys do not like one another.
At all.
Roll on Saturday’s bombs.
