Recently Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez mentioned that if he and Mayweather fought in their primes that there would only be one winner.

And that essentially he would destroy Mayweather if the pair fought in their primes.

Mayweather beat Canelo quite easily on points when the pair fought years ago when Canelo was younger.

Mayweather has now finally taken time out to respond to Canelo’s thoughts on the matter.

Speaking in an open media scrum to the press Mayweather said:

“Well it’s crazy that you know that Canelo said that because when he fought me he was in his prime. When I fought him I was an old man. Actually I wasn’t in my prime when I fought Canelo. I was an old man when I fought Canelo.”

It’s just one of those things that fight fans will never get to see.

A hypothetical scenario at the end of the day.

Alas, boxing fans always like the prime discussion for some reason.
