Canelo Alvarez notched up an expected victory on Saturday night as he moves ahead with a fight against Billy Joe Saunders next up December 8th live on DAZN.
A mandatory fight that Alvarez won by third round stoppage after challenger Yildirim was pulled out by his corner before the start of the fourth round.
Predictably many have been calling out Alvarez since.
A boxer who represents the biggest name in the sport of boxing today.
One such fighter is a past opponent and fellow countryman.
Son of legendary Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Chavez Jr previously took on Alvarez a few years back.
A fight Alvarez won by unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in 2017.
After Canelo’s win at the weekend Chavez Jr. said on social media (English translation used):
“I repeat with these rivals the only thing that implies that you want to generate money! I’m not going to charge you anything! I will fight for free with @Canelo and he will not recognize it! I wouldn’t win more money with anyone than a rematch with me! With no one the only condition 175! No money!”
What he is saying doesn’t make a whole lot of sense at the moment.
Chavez Jr. (52-5-1-34 KO) has recorded a number of losses in recent times since defeat to Alvarez in 2017.
Including to Danny Jacobs in 2019 and to Mario Abel Cazares only last year in Mexico.
He would not have the appropriate ranking for such a huge fight at this time and would require more wins of note.
