Canelo Alvarez proved once again tonight why he is considered by many to be the pound for pound best fighter in the sport of boxing today.
An awesome, electric fighter in fairness.
Taking on the much taller and longer reach of the brave Callum Smith from the UK Canelo proved what boxing is all about.
Not about size or anything else, skills at the end of the day.
He boxed a shut out unanimous points victory that never looked in doubt, backing up Smith to the ropes numerous times.
A technically excellent display.
So much so that Smith himself even had to laugh near the end when Canelo dodged his punches.
Renowned boxing expert and trainer Teddy Aatlas has given his take on a possible fight between Canelo and old rival Gennady Golovkin next up:
Indeed ‘GGG’ is not the force he once was.
A solid stoppage win on Friday night but surely not on the level of Canelo now.
A fighter in the prime of his fighting career.
Despite the turmoil of the year it was good to see boxing’s best box before the year was out.
A fight many want to see next up for him is the UK’s Billy Joe Saunders.
A technically supreme boxer himself when in shape and disciplined.
Charlo also being another interesting contender for him.
Big respect to the two fighters tonight.
