Oscar De La Hoya Makes Big Claim About Canelo vs Charlo Fight

This race is on for who will win the lottery ticket of fighting boxing super star Canelo Alvarez next up on Cinco De Mayo weekend.

The date in early May is yet to be officially announced but Canelo with his gargantuan Mexican fan base usually fights on it in Las Vegas.

With Canelo being the biggest star in the sport and coming off the back of an incredible knockout win, after moving up to light-heavyweight last time out against Sergey Kovalev — it is expected he will come down to a more natural weight this time out.

England’s Billy Joe Saunders appears to be the front runner for the fight but in an interesting interview with Marcos Villegas — it was also revealed that Canelo offered the fight to Jermall Charlo last year which was turned down.

According to De La Hoya (hat tip Fight Hub TV):

Jermall Charlo stopped Ireland’s Dennis Hogan last time out and also finds himself at the top of the heap at 160 lbs.

One would imagine a fight with Canelo Alvarez will help happen eventually but on what broadcaster network remains to be seen.

Time will tell.
