If one was to try to compare boxers Manny Pacquuiao and vanquished foe Adrien Broner as people outside the ring it would be impossible really.

Manny Pacquiao stands for completely different things as a person and is a class act in both victory and defeat.

Last night the Filipino boxing icon won a deserved unanimous points decision over Broner following twelve completed rounds at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Following the decision being announced in Sin City, Broner protested that he won the fight straight away.

He proceeded to rant against the announcer in the ring and even took personal shots at reporters in the post-fight press conference when they questioned his viewpoint.

Pacquiao however has had this message in victory:

That says it all about him really. A class act in and out of the ring.

As what’s next for the guy known as ‘PacMan’ — it will be first back home next week as Senator Pacquiao returns to public service duties but one suspects the final chapter of his boxing career is not done just yet.

Despite being 40 years old last night Pacquiao showed every forty year old in the world that age is just a number as he out boxed and out worked his 29 year old adversary.

A time where the old lion beat the young lion for a change.

Whether or not he gets the Floyd Mayweather rematch or not later this year time will only tell but he is certainly not done at the highest level of boxing just yet in terms of meaningful fights at 147lbs.

No doubt about it.
