Next weekend’s big fight in Vegas sees Adrien Broner and Paulie Malignaggi collide at the MGM Grand on Showtime pay per view in a really unique clash of styles for the WBA welterweight title.
One one hand you have a high output southpaw in Pacquiao against a low output orthodox fighter in Broner.
Typically to beat Pacquiao you need to counter punch him as the likes of Mayweather, Morales and Marquez showed before but Broner isn’t much of a counter puncher.
Speaking to a group of reporters ahead of the fight in an open media scrum top boxing commentator Paulie Malignaggi said Broner needs to:
“You time him (when fighting Pacquiao). You keep him at the end of the jab and you time him. AB is not really active with the jab and it’s harder to be active against a south paw with the jab but if he’s able to time Pacquiao enough all of a sudden you can make a guy second guess himself, you know I don’t know if I want to close the range right now?”
The fight also takes place on ITV 4 free to air for those in the UK.
