Oscar De La Hoya Makes Bold Claim About Future GGG vs Canelo Fights

Promoter of Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya is on the media tour this week ahead of his fighter’s debut fight on streaming platform DAZN this weekend in Madison Square Garden.

The first fight of an 11 fight deal, it will run for five years and be worth $365 million to Canelo.

The biggest rivalry for Canelo and arguably still the biggest fight out there for him is a third showdown with 160lbs knockout artist Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin but De La Hoya has gone a step further in his thinking.

Speaking on ESPN, De La Hoya said today:

“I think we could see 5 fights! Why not? Come on, come one?”

Five fights between Golovkin and Canelo, would fight fans be interested?

It’s hard to see why not, really.

First up though, Canelo steps up to super-middleweight this weekend in New York against UK WBA ‘Regular’ world champion Rocky Fielding.
