Former world title challenger Hughie Fury lost a unanimous points decision at the weekend to Kubrat Pulev and has now spoken for the first time following the loss.
Fury suffered a cut early on in the fight but was still able to rock Pulev in spots in the contest and one judge had it only by two points to Pulev by the end of the night.
It wasn’t meant to be but at 24 years of age and in the heavyweight division, making that age even younger, time is certainly on his side.
Speaking today for the first time on social media following the loss Fury said:
Saturday night wasn’t my night. I got cut in training a few weeks ago & it opened up against Pulev. It’s frustrating but I gave my all and went the full 12 rounds. Thanks to the fans who travelled all that way. Thank you all for being there & for the ongoing support ? pic.twitter.com/t46eK8Wl9M

No doubt there will be plenty of decent fights available for him again in the new year but with the cut like he suffered at the weekend he might be on the sidelines for a while in terms of needing to let it heal.
