Gennady Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler has pointed to a rather massive statistic pertaining to the amount of ringside media at the weekend who scored the bout in favor of his fighter.
Ultimately, the three judges and the people who counted on the night voted by majority decision in favor of Canelo Alvarez.
But this observation nonetheless by Loeffler still offers a lot of food for thought:
Interesting compilation of scoring of ringside observers of #CaneloGGG2 with 98% thinking #GGG won or got draw to retain his titles #PeoplesChamp https://t.co/PzFkLfiicL

It was the first defeat of Golovkin’s professional boxing career on Saturday night.
It also stopped him from reaching a record number of defenses in a record held by former middleweight kingpin Bernard Hopkins.
He must be thinking to himself that he doesn’t have much luck when it comes to trying to impress the judges of Las Vegas.
Straight after the fight he said he’s be open to a third match with Canelo but he didn’t comment on whether or not he’d take the fight if it happened back in Vegas again.
Either way, wherever it happens, there is no doubt that plenty of people would watch these two warriors duke it out for a third time.
