Chairman of Matchroom Sport and father of promoter Eddie Hearn, Barry Hearn has spoken some sense about the ongoing trio of potential fights between Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan and Kell Brook.
Pacquiao is a man in demand at the moment as he shops around for a new promoter and potentially a new network or platform for his fights to be distributed in the US on.
Following Amir Khan’s win last night over Samuel Vargas, Khan seemed more interested in the Pacquiao fight then taking on Kell Brook next up.
To this dismay of many fans.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Barry Hearn said:
“Winner (of Khan vs Brook) gets Manny Pacquiao but sort that one out first. I think it’s a fascinating fight (Khan vs Brook).”
He later went on to say:
“Why give Manny Pacquiao all the money? That’s the truth. Fight each other. Maybe the winner gets Manny Pacquiao.”
The Manny Pacquiao fight will still be there next year for either boxer in reality.
Pacquiao has promised to fight on for another three fights.
So two more bouts in 2019 could in theory free up an opportunity to make a fight between the winner of a Khan vs Brook fight at some point for Pacquiao.
If Khan vs Brook happens next up of course.
