Gervonta Davis’ tenuous relationship with his mentor and promoter Floyd Mayweather appears to be at boiling point after ‘Tank’ fired shots at Mayweather in public today.
Murmurings of problems between the two have been frequent this year.
Subtle hints from Davis and not so subtle comments about his promoter appear to have escalated to the point where things are now very heated indeed.
Speaking a short time ago, Davis said the following (directly) about Floyd Mayweather:
“I came to Vegas to start camp and Floyd didn’t want my coach out here becuz he wanted to train me..brought Pitts and everything…talking bout I don’t need my trainers…the one who got me where I’m at and quick to call AL and tell him I’m not listening and I’m not reliable!”
‘Al’ above refers to Mayweather’s adviser Al Haymon.
A constant friend of Mayweather both during his boxing career and in business since he retired from the sport.
23 year old Davis (20-0-19KO) lost his world title on the scales last year but this year appeared to be gaining momentum early on with an impressive showing back in April against Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar.
Things are not looking good now however, which will be music to the ears of his upcoming opponent Abner Mares, although a date and venue is yet to be confirmed.
Mares is not the type of guy to go into a fight unprepared for, at all.
