Jorge Linares gave pound for pound star Vasyl Lomachenko arguably the hardest fight of his career to date earlier this year. Despite the loss, Linares’ stock definitely went up and now he’s coming back to the squared circle.
Linares takes on Abner Cotto on September 29th at Fantasy Springs Casino.
It will mark a card shown live on Facebook Watch as part of his promoter Golden Boy’s new partnership with the social media giant.
Speaking on the fight Linares said:
“I am coming back hungrier than ever to demonstrate to the world that I am still one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.”
He added:
“I want those big fights and the world has not seen the best of me. With my new trainer and my team, we will demonstrate that I am more than capable in taking over this new super lightweight division against a notable opponent in Abner Cotto. This September 29, fans will see a determined Jorge Linares.”
The fight towards the end of the month marks a huge month for the sweet science overall – with a wealth of world title action and big name fights happening during the month.
