Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter throw down for the WBC welterweight title on September 8th in New York in a bout that promises to be explosive.
Both guys have demonstrated they are punchers time and time again in their careers but they’re not out-and-out brawler types mind you.
More boxer-punchers who like to choose their spots in terms of – when to box and when to trade leather.
That should make the game plan been formulated by both trainers an interesting one.
Both fighters also have their fathers as their trainers, Kenny Porter and Angel Garcia.
So the 8th will very much be a family affair in Brooklyn.
Speaking ahead of the bout, Angel Garcia had the following to say:
“Porter really isn’t worried about Danny’s power, but he should be. I’m not mad about it, he just better have no excuses in that ring. Because Danny’s not about excuses.
“We’re working hard and we’re going to be ready for anything Shawn Porter thinks he has up his sleeve. If he comes rushing in, he’s playing right into Danny’s hands.
“Danny is a star and he’s going to show it again in this fight. He always puts on a star performance and this going to be another stage for him to shine.”
The bout will be shown live on Showtime as part of a Premier Boxing Champions event.
