Shannon Briggs had been expected to attend last weekend’s Tyson Fury vs Francesco Pianeta fight in Belfast after posting flight information to Belfast from the States but he has revealed why he didn’t go at the last-minute.
Fury won on points in the end and it was American WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder who got the headlines last week and weekend who was in attendance at Belfast.
Not Briggs who was planning on gate crashing the event with his popular ‘Lets Go Champ!’ catchphrase.
Briggs has long called out Wilder and Fury but it is unclear if he will land a significant fight anytime soon.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV Briggs said of last weekend:
“Yeah I heard I was barred to be honest with you. I heard I was going to be barred form the arena. Maybe it was just, ah, Frank Warren that was putting out that buzz so my attorney told me that I was going to be barred from the arena and to save my money and not show up. So you know, I took that advice.”
Briggs later added that he is looking to box before the year is out.
Fury and Wilder are due to fight this coming November or December.
